I promise this is the last review of the week. I just couldn’t help myself. The restaurant my parents took us to last Friday was just to good not to talk about.
We went to the Gray Goose Cafe located in Southport, CT. The whole ambiance of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. We had a nice spot on their porch covered for winter months next to a roaring fire.
Our waiter was super nice and attentive. The table shared a nice bottle of Cabernet. Jeff and I shared a house salad while my parents shared one of their Grilled Flatbread Salads. They went for the Montrachet Goat Cheese which has baby red leaf, cucumbers, shaved fennel, candied walnuts, marinated pear, raspberry vinaigrette. They were both huge fans of the salad and it looked really good.
For my entree I had to go for the scallops on the menu

The scallops were pan seared with lemon white wine beurre blanc, capers, champagne grapes, over spaghetti squash.
My dad got this meal as well and we were both impressed with how good the scallops tasted over spaghetti squash. The scallops were cooked perfectly.
My mom had the duck that was served pan seared with pomegranate reduction, potato, lasagna, asparagus.
Jeff got the steak frites-10 oz Hanger steak, peppered au poivre butter, parmesan shoestrings. He was a big fan of his steak and really liked the marinate on the steak.
What’s a birthday celebration without cake!?

The table shared a chocolate cake and a key lime pie. Both deserts were relatively small but they were AMAZING!! The chocolate cake literally melted in your mouth when you took a bite. The key lime pie was delicious too and had an excellent graham cracker crust.
I would say we had a successful meal at The Gray Goose Cafe and are all eager to go back.
What is the best meal you have had lately? Did you make it or go out?

I rarely make them at home either, so I love getting them when I got out to dinner!
Ahhhh chocolate cake. I love when restaurants do it right. I’m not a big seafood person though.
