When I firs started my blog 10 months ago, I was interning at Pencils of Promise an amazing non profit and babysitting for a wonderful little girl named Coco! Then in April I got my first job at SKIP of New York.
Now I am starting a new job! I left my job at SKIP, Monday was my last day. On the 17th of January I will start my new job at The Child and Family Guidance Center and I cannot wait.
There were many reasons why I wanted to leave my last job, the main one’s being that it wasn’t the right fit for me. Not that I thought my first job would be something that I would do for the rest of my life, but I thought I would at least be happy to go to work and that just was not the case at all. I also had to commute 1 hour and 45 mins a day, each way! My days ended up being around 12 hours! I would leave work around 5 and not get home until 7. I was run down, tired and had no free time! I am only 23 (fine almost 24) I think I deserve the right to have free time and be able to spend time with my friends, family and boyfriend after work and not feel like I can fit them in during the work week.
I will really miss the friends I made at my last job. But I know that we will stay in touch, I still plan to go to the city and will be sure to get in touch with them when I do.
My new job is only about a 10 min drive from my house! I am excited to work 8-4 and be able to be home 10 minutes after I leave the office!! I am excited to be able to focus on things that I like to do after work. Give my blog proper attention, see my friends, give my animals attention and work on my school work to become a Health Coach (more on that another day)!
Lots of good things are going on for me right now and I am really thrilled! I have been trying for months now to find a new job and am very happy that I finally did!
Did you like your first job?
Do you have advice for people who may not like there job, but are having trouble finding a new one?
Do you have any fun plans for the long weekend?
I am off to the city tomorrow with one of my friends to have a little fun and check out the Union Square market!
