Hudson: 6 month Update

I cannot believe this boy has been in our life for half a year now! I honestly cannot remember what life was like without him! He brings so much joy into our lives!

This past month with Hudson has been so much fun to watch him grow and develop! He is so observant and really pays attention to the things that are going on around him. He loves watching other kids play. He has great hand to mouth coordination, and he is desperate to crawl but hasn’t figured it out just yet. He loves to laugh, chat, kick and watch Brady and let Brady kiss him all over.

Hudson has finally started taking consistent naps on his own in his crib and I could not be happier! It took persistence and patience on my end but I am so glad I was able to get Hudson to nap independently, I honestly never thought I would be able to do it! He sleeps anywhere from 2-3 hours in the afternoon depending on how long he slept at his morning nap. It is amazing the better he naps in the day the better he will sleep at night.

Feeding:
Hudson is still breastfeeding and of course nothing can every be perfect, he has recently started refusing a bottle which is a small problem when I work.. but, I am hoping like everything else this is just a phase. Hudson has started to eat a lot more solids and he loves food! He is always excited to eat and if you are holding him and eating he wants whatever you are having. I really enjoy introducing foods to Hudson and while he always is a mess by the end he enjoys trying to feed himself with the spoon so I often let him after I have given him a few bites of food first. He really loves yogurt, peanut butter, almond butter, sunbutter, berries, apples, bananas, avocado.. honestly *knock on wood* he has liked everything I have given him so far. He seemed to like scrambled eggs and rice but just isn’t sure how to eat it just yet. I am looking forward to being able to give him foods with seasoning and spices and see how he takes to them!

He loves watering the plants and feeding the birds with my mom

Gardening: my parents have a garden and everyday we go out and harvest the tomatoes and he enjoys grabbing the leaves and putting them straight into his mouth.

Llama Llama Red Pajama: Hudson loves books that rhyme and this is his current favorite. Hudson also appreciates the Ludacris version of Llama Llama Red Pajama

Dislikes: Aside from the usual

having his face cleaned

having eye drops put in his eye

being overtired..man the screams that can come out of that kid!

How am I doing:

I’m doing great! I finally feel like I know what I am doing. I know when Hudson is tired, hungry, uncomfortable, or just off. I have been able to get Hudson to nap on his own in his crib which is huge! I am able to work and get stuff done around the house and occasionally take some time for myself and read (I hardly allow myself to do this but I am working on it)! We are in a transitional period right now (moving from Boston back to CT) so we are staying at my parents for the month of October and it has been really nice to have help pretty much whenever I need. I have even been able to work a little bit more and have help with bedtime etc. I do really miss the group of mom friends and babies we had in Boston and I am definitely craving that connection again but I know it comes with time but I am certain we will make ourselves a nice little group here! I also miss taking Hudson to baby yoga, he really seemed to love the class, but I signed up Hudson for swim lessons and they start next week so I am looking forward to watching him learn how to swim. Hudson has started going to daycare one day a week which is great for the both of us, he gets to socialize with other kids and I can work! Last week was his first day and despite the bottle strike and nap strike he had a good first day.

  • It’s always so great to hear how you are doing, Kait. We all knew you would be the world’s best mom. I admire how you have managed so well…..moving is never easy, that’s for sure. But you have conquered the problems. Hurrah for you!
