Weekend Recap

This weekend seemed to go in the blink of any eye! We had such a nice weekend. I feel like all I have been doing the past few weekends is working so it was nice to have plans with friends for a change!

On Friday night my friend from college Allison and her husband were coming into the city for the weekend and we made plans to meet up with them for dinner and drinks. Once they arrived into the city we met up with them and headed to dinner at Sip. Jeff and I had been to Sip before when my parents came into town and we knew it had a great wine selection! The last time we ate there the food was just ok but this past weekend the food was really good! I don’t know what changed but we all raved about our meals. Allison and her husband were staying at Nine Zero Hotel which is a hotel attached to a bar called Highball Lounge (which we have been to before and love it there) so we made our way there for some drinks and dancing. Although their visit was short it was so nice to have friends in the city, I hope they come back again soon!

Saturday I started my day with Body Pump! I just joined a gym that offers Body Pump classes and to say I am excited is an understatement, it is seriously such a good workout! After my workout I hit up the Trade Joe’s and spent the rest of the afternoon getting ready for our dinner guests! We were originally going to check out an outdoor space in the city with some friends but the weather was bad so we decided to have them over for dinner instead!

Steve and his boyfriend Adam and my friend Lindsay came over for a Mexican fiesta! I made fresh watermelon and mint margaritas to enjoy with our meal! Why yes, I do make my own juice and simple syrup! I much prefer making homemade juices and simple syrup over buying the pre made stuff, they always add too many unnecessary ingredients.

For dinner I made a fajita bar with chicken, lettuce, peppers and onions, homemade guac, salsa, refried beans and Mexican corn salad which is my new favorite summer salad (via What’s Gaby Cooking).

Steve brought the fix-ins for fondue which was a deliciously sweet way to end the evening! We had so much fun and are already looking forward to our next dinner party!

Sunday I spent a few hours working, doing laundry and then Lindsay and I headed out on a long walk in search of a dog park for Brady. We found the dog park but unfortunately for Brady there was only one other dog there. He still had fun running around and playing with the other dog.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing and getting ready for the week ahead! We have a fun weekend on the horizon so I hope this week goes by quickly!
