Tips for making the most out of your day

While I am no expert in this topic I am someone who over books myself and subsequently gets overwhelmed because of it. I have often laid in bed at night wondering how I am going to fit everything into the next day.

Because of this I have compiled a list of things that help me make the most of my day.

It is very apparent I didn’t follow my own tips the past couple of weeks because I never made posting a priority. Which I am working on getting back into a regular schedule after a few weeks of over booking myself and time away from the blog has left me full of new content!

Tips for making the most out of your day:

1.) SCHEDULE. SCHEDULE. SCHEDULE: I am obsessed with my planner I write down EVERYTHING in it. I write my to-do lists for the day, where I have to be from what time until when, when I am going to walk the dog, what I absolutely MUST accomplish that day and what things can wait until the next day, what I am going to make for dinner, blog post ideas, etc. Literally everything I can fit into a day I do it!

2.) Workout first thing in the morning: I know some people aren’t into working out in the morning but if you are someone who finds it hard to find time to workout it’s because you aren’t waking up in the morning to just do it. It takes 2 weeks to develop a habit so just try it for 2 weeks! The main reason I workout in the morning is because I don’t have to think about it and don’t want to give myself the opportunity to make excuses as to why I can’t go. It’s over before I have even gotten a chance to think about it. Sure, I would like to stay in bed with my cuddly dog and husband but the thought of making time for it later in the day makes me crazy (and I can never fall back asleep anyway). The best part about it is that it leaves the opportunity to do things in the afternoon like walk the dog, meet someone for a drink, grab dinner, go to an event or the movies.

3.) Use a timer: I am so guilty of sitting down at the computer to type up a post and the next thing I know an hour has gone by and I have only gotten the title typed out but don’t you worry I know what 20 of my facebook “friends” are up to, who got married and who is having the next baby. Setting a timer allows me to sit at the computer and say ok I am going to work on this post for the next 45 minutes and when that 45 minutes is up I can stalk strangers on FB ๐Ÿ˜‰

4.) Utilize the “do not disturb” on your phone: This one is crucial! I don’t know about you but my phone is so distracting, between checking snapchat, intagram, texting/calling people it can be near impossible to get things done. I have found that the time I set for myself to work on blog things or things for KIND for that matter are done best if I turn my phone on do not disturb. That way it wont ring, I wont get a ping that I have a text or an email. My productivity level skyrockets when I put my phone on do not disturb.

5.) Make time for yourself: This is the most important tip to having a productive day if you ask me. Your day will be a thousand times more productive if you make sure to do something for yourself. Let’s face it we spend most of the day doing things for other people that we forget to take care of ourselves. While I do enjoy my workouts I don’t consider it something I am doing for myself since it is part of my schedule/routine. Make time to watch your favorite trashy tv show, read, go for a walk, listen to a podcast, or mediate (I recently started adding this into my morning and it will have to be a whole other post in itself because I am learning so much but also don’t feel like I am far enough a long in my practice to delve into it just yet).
