Class started at 7:30 which took a lot of mental prep for me since I like to get my workout over with in the morning before I have even had the chance to think about it.
I had tried Xtend Barre prior to this class and I will be honest I wasn’t the biggest fan of the style. I felt like it wasn’t as methodical (and more for the dancer) as what I was used to doing at Pure Barre and Bar Method.
But when I got invited to this event I figured it couldn’t hurt to give it another chance. When all my friends try Pure Barre and call me after and tell me they hated it I ALWAYS tell them they have to give it another chance because you spend the first class trying to figure out WTF is going on.
Since my first class at Xtend Barre I have tried and become a fan of Pure Barre platform. For those of you unfamiliar with Pure Barre platform it is a “fast-paced class designed to optimize cardiovascular results and increase total body strength. This heart-pumping class combines quick bursts of high intensity, yet low impact cardio work with periods of lower intensity muscle-sculpting movements.”
During my second class at Xtend Barre it finally clicked and I realized Xtend Barre is a fusion of barre style and platform. So now that I have a better understanding of the Xtend Barre technique I can definitely see why people like it so much!
After a sweaty class we all enjoyed some champagne, delicious food and mingling! As I mentioned B. Good supplied the food for the evening and they supplied quite the spread! I told one of the ladies that I wished I could go to restaurants and compile all the salads into one like we were able to do that night!
There were some vegan/gf treats available but unfortunately they weren’t as good as I hoped they would be!
Most of the ladies I talked to were non-bloggers so it was fun to get to know them and what they all did for a living.
I had fun getting to know the group of ladies and I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and challenged myself to workout in the evening. I will still stick to my morning workouts but its fun to mix things up every once in a while!
