Checking out Muse Paintbar at Assembly Row

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a media event at Muse Paintbar at Assembly Row in Sommerville, MA. Muse opened on January 5th so the venue is still new.

Side note: last night was my first time at Assembly Row and I was told in advance it is awesome so I made sure to show up early and check it out! The shops there are awesome, especially the Loft Outlet, I was on the hunt for some more interview appropriate clothes and scored a skirt for $10!

Upon arrival we were greeted by Alex (from 44 Comm who put on the event) and directed to grab an apron and a drink from the bar. We were given two drink tickets for the evening but guests can purchase beer or wine from their bar. Alex also provided food from one of the restaurants in Assembly Row called Tony C’s but food is available for purchase at Muse as well!

After everyone was situated it was time to start painting. I have done a paint night before and my painting was nothing too spectacular.. let’s just say I didn’t get an artistic gene. I really didn’t have high expectations for myself but just really wanted to have fun and meet some new people and I did just that.

The scene we were painting was a couple walking down a path into the night. We started with the background.

Clearly nothing amazing going on!

After the background we started to add detail, like the trees, the walkway and then snow.

After that it was time to do the people. I kept joking all night that I wasn’t going to do the people, they seemed hard and I was certain I would ruin my painting (cause it was already so beautiful!). But I obviously decided to give it a shot and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be!

So, as it turns out my picture didn’t come out as bad as I thought it would! Even Jeff said it was better than the last one I brought home. Even though I am no artist I had a lot of fun getting to know other bloggers in the area and doing something different! I would definitely got back to Muse, all the instructors are super nice, helpful and very talented!
