Perhaps one of the things I miss most about working at a health food store is having green juices at my disposal. There isn’t space for my juicer in our new place so making them isn’t convenient either. When I got invited to a blogger event at Freshii one thing was on my mind, GREEN JUICE!
The event was hosted at Freshii in the Back Bay area (185 Dartmouth ST Boston, MA 02116) there are 2 other locations in Boston. We were treated to samples of juices, salads, their signature bowls and some fro-yo to end the evening.
A little history about Freshii; Freshii was started in 2005 in Toronto Canada and it was excursively a salad bar. As the chain grew and more locations started popping up they started adding more and more to the menu. Now you could be a meat lover, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, soy free, dairy free, lactose intolerant, paleo you name it and you could find something on the menu to satisfy your needs.
We got to sample the Metaboost salad: greens, spinach, kale, mangoes, carrots, edamame, almonds, goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. I loved this salad, anything with goat cheese and mango makes my heart happy!
2 of their bowls the Buddha Satay: rice noodles, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, green onions and peanut sauce. This was ok, not my favorite I think the peanut sauce is different then what I am used to.
and the Mediterranean Bowl: half quinoa and half greens, red onions, kalamata olives, feta cheese, cucumbers, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, almonds and red pepper sauce. This dish was really delicious! I would definitely go back and order this.
We also tried the “Limited Time Offer” aka “Seasonal Special” Vegan Chili: you actually could have fooled me because it tasted like meat chili, it was a little too spicy for my taste buds but someone who likes spicier things would definitely be a fan!
and now on to my favorite the juices!
We tried the Mighty Detox: pineapple, ginger, apple, celery, cucumber. I could have drank 16oz of this and still wanted more, this is perhaps one of my favorite juice combinations! If I ordered it I would ask for a bit more ginger because I like when a juice packs a punch.
The other juice we tried was Red Power: beet, lemon, ginger, carrot. I am not a fan of beets but I tried it anyway just to see if I changed my mind and I have not. I would so be a fan of this minus the beet.
Lastly, we tried the fro-yo they have to use for their smoothies or if you just want a cup of fro-yo with toppings. I only got to sample the vanilla because the chocolate one they had at the time was cookies n’ cream which isn’t gf friendly. But the vanilla one was pretty good. I am not usually one to order smoothies out because they usually use yogurt or frozen yogurt and I don’t find that necessary, also I am biased and enjoy my own smoothies better!
It was a fun night out and I am glad I got to meet some new to me bloggers in the area and try out Freshii for the first time! I can’t wait to go back!
Shameless plug: There is a contest between all the bloggers that came out that night and the person who gets the most likes on their picture gets a cleanse! I would love to try out their cleanse so if you could throw me a like I would very much appreciate it!
