Long time readers know how passionate I am about the things that I put on and in my body. Whenever I can I use all natural, organic products.
What you put on your skin is JUST as important as what you are putting in your body. So when it comes to my makeup I am extremely picky about what I am using. For years I used and sold Arbonne, but unfortunately once I stopped selling it, it wasn’t as affordable to me.
Recently my friend introduced me to Beauty Counter. Beauty Counters mission is To get safe products into the hands of everyone: Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including, but not limited to asthma, learning disabilities, cancer and infertility) are on the rise, and due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals—whether it’s in the shower, on our commute, while we eat lunch at a local restaurant, or when we clean our kitchens at home.
There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today. Many don’t have any safety data. This is particularly true of those used in the skin care and beauty industry.
The European Union has banned 1,300 the US has only banned 11. Beauty Counter has banned more than 1,500. They will continue to do this and work towards making better and safer products.
You can check out their never list here
Ok so now that you know the back story on Beauty Counter how about we talk about my favorite products from them.
If you buy your makeup at CVS or something similar you might think the prices are high. But if you are shopping at Sephora or other department stores the price point is pretty much the same, if not a little cheaper. I promise these products are worth every penny and your skin will thank you!
Lip Conditioner Calendula Balm
This is the BEST lip conditioner out there! It has calendula in it; calendula has anti-inflammatory properties which helps heal chapped lips. Calendula is by far one of my favorite things out there, it is so versatile and has been a miracle for curing my acne and getting rid of old acne scars. This lip conditioner has been my savior the past couple of weeks ever since the temperature dropped, my lips and skin have been extremely chapped and dry.
Tint Skin Foundation
This is great for people like myself who have uneven skin tones. I put this on after my lotion but before I put on any other makeup. It gives a great “no makeup” look which is what I like to go for, if I didn’t perpetually have dark circles under my eyes I would be happy just leaving the house with just this on.
Touchup Skin Concealer Pen
I LOVE this concealer! It works great for covering up a pesky pimple and is even better for under eye circles. My friend recently taught me the “triangle of life” technique when applying liquid concealer. Basically you draw a triangle under your eye and blend the concealer in by dabbing it with a pad (don’t ever rub concealer in, you basically are wasting the concealer).
Color Contour Matte Bronzer
I love the bronzer because it gives me a natural glow, it isn’t like other bronzers that seem to have sparkles or shimmer in them, I don’t like when bronzer looks glittery or shiny when you put it on.
Color Pinch Cream Blush in Hibiscus
I love this blush because not only can you use it on your cheeks but also use it as a lip tint. They blend easily and it will last you forever because its in stick form.
Ewg skin deep is a great resource to see how good or bad the products you are using on your face/skin on a regular basis are for you. My favorite app on my phone is the Skin Deep app, I can scan the barcode or products at the store to see how they are rated.
Do you pay attention to the ingredients in your makeup?
Have you ever heard of Beauty Counter?
