I know what you’re thinking, Kaitlin made us an awesome playlist to use for our next power hour! Unfortunately for you this is not what this post it about…I am a little too old for that. I couldn’t hang for a power hour in college so I certainly can’t hang for a power hour now!
But the power hour I am about to talk about, I can hang for.
I recently started to listen to a podcast called Happier by Gretchen Rubin author of The Happiness Project. The idea behind the podcast is that they want to discuss new habits to incorporate into your everyday life that will lead you to a happier life.
A couple of weeks ago I was listening and they introduced the idea of a “power hour,” meaning that for one hour your try to accomplish as much as possible!
I am a huge list person, I love to write out a list of things I need to do and I absolutely love the feeling of crossing things off my list. Lately I keep a running list on my phone and delete the things off my list once I have accomplished them. I currently have a few items on my list that have been there for WEEKS simply because I keep putting them off.
The idea of this power hour really resonated with me because I thought, I could do that. I could allot myself an hour every couple of days to tackle the things on my list I don’t really want to do and I would feel so much more better once the things were off my list!
I have found that if I schedule in my “power hour” I am more likely to get it done. So every week I write in my calendar on the days I want to have a “power hour” and what time it is going to take place. Sometimes I stop at the hour and go catch up on my shows and other days I am on such a roll that I keep going. #geterdone
There is something about calling it a “power hour” over a “to do list” that makes it seem less daunting!
