Celebrating our one year wedding anniversary

Over the weekend Jeff and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary!

Our actual anniversary was on Monday the 31st but we kicked things off on Sunday with a trip to Wadsworth Mansion where we got married! The mansion was holding an open air market and we thought it would be fun to go back and visit.

It was really nice to be back there, it made me wish it was our wedding day all over again! The open air market was ok and we walked around for a little bit but it must be the thing to do in Middletown, Ct because it was very busy!

After the mansion we headed to Nora Cupcakes, we had our rehearsal dinner there and wanted to get some cupcakes to continue our celebrating.

After our treats we headed back home to relax before heading to Kazu, our favorite sushi place for dinner and rounded out the night celebrating our friends birthday.

On Monday we slept in and had a leisurely morning, both of us getting our respective workouts in before heading to get massages! After our massages we came home and hung out, exchanged gifts (we both followed the one year anniversary theme of paper) and got ready to head out to dinner.

We went to Mediterraneo a restaurant in Norwalk and one I cater at from time to time. The food there is out of this world amazing, I have never had a bad dish there.

To start we ordered the burrata and were gifted the prawns which were soo good and full of flavor.

For our entrees I went for the Parmesan crusted halibut with tomato chive buerre blanc and sauteed spinach.

This dish was out of this world amazing! The halibut was cooked perfectly and just fell apart with a fork, the sauce was soo good and buttery I cleared my plate.

Jeff went for the Certified Angus Beef Strip Steak with grilled trevisano, gorgonzola and sherry vinegar.

Jeff said this was probably one of the best steaks he has ever had, and he shared a bite with me and I would have to agree, the sauce was amazing and we later learned it takes a week to make.

After dinner we headed home to pop a special bottle of champagne and have a bite of our wedding cake.

My friend Ashley and her husband Andy got us this cute bottle of champagne as a wedding gift and we had been saving it for our one year anniversary to open it!

We were very surprised to find that our wedding cake still tasted good despite being in the freezer for a year. We had low expectations for it but were pleasantly surprised it tasted as good as it did when we had it a year ago.

We had a great time celebrating our one year anniversary and I can’t wait to see what the coming years bring us!
