Save the dates

I feel like I haven’t updated you on wedding planning in a while so I think today is a good day to do just that.

First of all things are going swimmingly. I have all of the big stuff taken care off and I have a constant fear in the back of my mind that I am forgetting something. I have been told by many this fear is normal and only gets worse closer to the wedding. Awesome!

In July we had our engagement session, originally I didn’t want to do an engagement session. Anything to save an extra couple bucks, but our fantastic photographer insisted that we do it as a way for him to get to know us as a couple.

So since we had over 200 pictures of us just laying around I figured I should use them for the save the dates.

I wasn’t looking to spend a fortune on the save the dates when the formal invitations would not be cheap.

Thanks to Julie for blogging about her wedding planning I found the amazing website that is wedding chicks.

On the site they have free printable and I found a save the date that was geared toward our general wedding theme which is garden party and a little bit vintagey.

From there I typed in our information, uploaded the photo I was using and then downloaded the front
front of save the date

and the back
back of save the date 2

Emailed it off to a printer and within 3 days I had my save the dates for less then $100.

In case you didn’t notice our color scheme for the wedding is coral and turquoise.

If you or anyone you know is getting married I highly recommend encouraging them to check out wedding chicks and style me pretty for ideas.

For those who are married/getting married did you send out save the dates? Where did you make them?

I have one big thing left which is deciding on a cake, I have looking on pinterest but if anyone has ideas or suggestions please leave them in the comments section, I would love the help! Ideally I am looking to something simple and tasteful.
