Tofu Masala

As a long time Trader Joe’s fan one of the best things about visiting the store is getting to sample some of their fab creations.

A few years ago my family sampled a tofu dish they had and it quickly became a regular meal in our house.

I may have helped Jeff become a more adventurous eater but something he wont eat is tofu, I will respect that because it is an acquired taste.

The other night I had the kitchen to myself so I took advantage of this and made my favorite tofu dish. This dish centers around a masala simmer sauce found at trader joes. This sauce really makes the dish!

Ingredients:
1 container of tofu
1 head of broccoli
1 onion
1 can chick peas
1 jar of masala simmer sauce

Directions:
1.) Chop your onion, cut the stems off your broccoli and cut you tofu into bite size pieces.
2.) Place large pan over medium heat and drizzle olive oil. Saute’ your onions for a minute. Add you chick peas, broccoli, tofu and sauce. Cover and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for about a half an hour or until the broccoli is cooked to your liking.
3.) This dish is delicious served on its own or over brown rice.

  • i didn’t like tofu previously because of its texture. i’ve learned through trial and error that it’s about finding it well cooked! then the texture won’t bother me. i’m sure your dish is fab. make it for me some time? πŸ˜‰ i will pin this to my recipes-i’ll-make-when-i-live-alone board. and maybe pair it with that nice bottle of wine that i’m going to selfishly hoard!

  • I eat tofu but never cook it at home. I do like vegetarian meals which is a good thing since I am a vegetarian lol. I love Trader Joe’s for their sauces- I love the BBQ sauces, the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, Island Soyaki as well as the salsas, hummus variety and the occasional jar of tomato sauce. I should try the Masala Simmer Sauce next.
