Top 10 books I read in 2012

I absolutely love to read, it is probably one of my favorite hobbies! I do however gravitate towards the more depressing books, like people in danger, murder, abuse things of that nature. I am not sure why I like these books, probably because they hold my attention from start to finish. I do try to throw some lighter books in there to mix things up.

Since the year is coming to an end I thought I would highlight my top 10 favorite books I read over the past year!

Top 10 books I read in 2012:

1.) Lies Chelsea Handler Told me: This is by far the best Chelsea Handler book I have read. It was entertaining from start to finish. It is a series of stories told by the people Chelsea played pranks on.

2.) The Art of Racing in The Rain: This is my new favorite book! This book is written from a dogs perspective. It is so moving, happy and emotional all at the same time. I truly believe my dog understands me now!

3.) Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: Jenny Lawson better known as the Bloggess, tells a hilarious tale of her life growing up in this mostly true memoir.

4.) The Kindness of Strangers: This books is extremely disturbing yet I couldn’t put it down. It is like a car wreck you don’t want to look at but can’t stop looking. I refuse to tell you anything about this book, I had no clue what it was about and was completely shocked when the book took a turn I was not expecting.

5.) Unbroken: This book was incredible and a book I was surprised I enjoyed so much. Being that history isn’t always my thing. This book follows Louis Zamperini in his amazing career as a runner and his time spent serving in the second World War. It was truly a great read

6.) 13 Reasons Why: A high school girl commits suicide and has left tapes for 13 people explaining why they played a role in her committing suicide. The book was very well written and although you know from the beginning that she has committed suicide by the time I got to the end I wished it could end differently.

7.) How to Love an American Man: “Kristine Gasbarre made a New York career of dating driven, inaccessible men. When she realizes her love life will never result in happiness if she continues on the same path, she makes a big decision—relocating to Italy to discover her roots and find out what defines her adoring grandpa. But upon receiving the news of his sudden passing, she is lured away.” Krissy moves in with her grandmother and you follow her as she figure out her life and her fear of loving.

8.) What Alice Forgot: Alice goes to spin class one day 39 years old and wakes up thinking she is 29 and about to have her first child. This book is funny and captivating, it leave you thinking what you may do differently if you could re live the last 10 yrs of your life!

9.) Gone Girl: Within the first chapter you will be hooked to this book. On Nick’s 5 year wedding anniversary his wife mysteriously goes missing. This book takes you on a wild goose chase through their relationship and what really happened to his wife.

10.) A Secret Kept: Brother and sister Antoine Rey and Mélanie take a trip to what was their families favorite vacation spot. They share a great weekend reminising about their childhood. On the way home Antoine’s sister decides to tell him a secret she has been keeping from him for years. Melaine loses control of the car and doesn’t get a chance to tell her brother. When she wakes up she doesn’t remember what she wanted to tell him. The book follows Antoine as he tried to figure out what his sister wanted to tell him.

Have you read any of the books above? Which was your favorite? or least favorite?

What is the best book you read this year?
Mine is definitely “The Art of Racing in The Rain.” I even got Jeff to read it and I think he described it best, the book takes you through a roller-coaster of emotions!
